Italy Honeymoon Ideas

Our honeymoon specialists have all been lucky enough to experience the innate, romantic charm of Italy first-hand we want to share our experiences with you.

Here are some of Sinéad and Becci’s personal favourite eateries, excursions, resorts and hotels.

For the old-school romantics…

Visit Juliet’s balcony in Verona

Wherefore art thou Romeo

When in Verona, romantic charmers should definitely visit Juliet’s balcony from the iconic Shakespearean play, Romeo & Juliet. It’s a great outing for English and history buffs as well!

Gondola Ride in Venice

Another innately romantic Italian experience is a gondola ride through Venice. Do it at night for extra effect, the twinkling lights and the man singing while rowing the gondola is really special.

For lovers who love food…

In Sorrento

Foreigner’s Club – Sorrento

You should head to the Foreigner’s Bar for some quaint marina views and evening sunshine. It’s a really great place to relax in and the staff really look after you. If you’re lucky you might even catch some cruise ships coming in.

The restaurant in La Favorita Hotel is great as well. It’s a really traditional Italian setting surrounding by lush greenery. The service and food here are brilliant.

In Tuscany

You have to go to All’Antico Vinaoi for lunch before exploring the beautiful city of Florence. They have an amazing selection of cheeses, breads, cured meats and antipasti boards.

La Prosciutteria Restaurant

La Prosciutteria Restaurant

La Prosciutteria Restaurant delivers on all fronts. Delicious food and a relaxing, romantic atmosphere.

Ristorante Fubi in Viareggio is one of my favourite restaurants in all of Tuscany. The food is so fresh and authentically Italian.

In Sicily

The incredible views from the Al Saraceno restaurant are reason enough to go here but the pizza and seafood have got quite a bit of a reputation as well.

In Lake Garda

Love, love, love this resort! It’s very boutiquey and upmarket in the heart of the little village. There’s a really funky wine bar in the very centre of it and it has the best prosecco in town. Perfect place to toast to your newly married life!

For the sightseers…

Day Trip to Capri

My favourite trip while in Sorrento was a day trip out to the island of Capri. Take the hydrofoil across from Sorrento port and experience the stunning views on a cable car journey to the top of Ana Capri. A picturesque boat trip around the island is the best way to see it all.

Take the Cable Cars to the top of Malcesine in Lake Garda

cable car

If you want to see uninterrupted views of Malcesine village, I would definitely recommend taking the cable car up to the very top. It’s just a really beautiful and quaint town with the most spectacular castle, cobbled streets, boutiques and cafes.

For the thrill-seekers…

Riva Del Garda

This is one town in Lake Garda the hubby will definitely enjoy. The road tunnels here are the very ones you see James Bond chasing through in the Quantum of Solace movie. The Alps provide the backdrop for this town so you can just imagine how stunning it is. It’s also really good for hiking and biking.

Hot Air Balloon Ride over Tuscany

Over Florence

This is the most memorable and romantic thing I did in Tuscany. We started our balloon ride in Siena and it was just so surreal to look down on the beautiful countryside of Tuscany in all it’s glory. Make a day out of it and finish with an Opera performance at St. Mark’s Anglican.

For the lap of luxury…

We handpicked these hotels for honeymooners because it’s the little extra touches and the romantic settings that make all the difference.

Baia Taormina Grand Palace Hotel & Spa

Baia Taormina Grand Palace Hotel & Spa

Baia Taormina Grand Palace Hotel & Spa
One of our travel agents, Amanda, spent her own honeymoon here and said it was the perfect place to unwind after all the hype of the wedding!

Hotel Bristol
Quite literally built into the cliff face, this hotel boasts unbeatable views. With a rooftop swimming pool, speed boats and mini golf, there are lots of fun couples’ activities to do here.

Hotel Palace
This is a great one for honeymooners, they usually have a lovely bottle of sparkling wine for honeymoon couples on arrival!

Hotel Leon’s Place
Talk about honeymooning in style! This boutique hotel screams luxury and opulence.
